‘Thick, heavy’ smoke over east Christchurch as firefighters battle large blaze at school

A fire at South New Brighton School in Christchurch is being treated as suspicious, police say.
Thick plumes of smoke could be seen coming from the school on Estuary Rd, which teaches years 1 to 8. The school will be closed on Monday.
