refund steam games. If you’re wondering how to refund a game on Steam, you’ve come to the right place!
Steam is one of the oldest digital distribution services out there. It was launched back in 2003 and is owned by Valve, one of the largest video game developers in the world.
Steam runs on many different platforms including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
Believe it or not, Steam has over 30,000 video games for sale! And it has a staggering 95 million monthly users.
Steam has everything from free games to paid AAA titles. When you purchase a game through Steam, it adds to your Steam account and you can also download the game directly to your device to play at any time.
The advantage of Steam is that if you delete the game from your device, you can always restore it – even years later. That’s because it will always be available for download as long as you bought it on Steam. It always saves in your Steam library.
But what if you buy a game on Steam and just don’t like it? Can you get your money back?
Steam return policy
Like most digital storefronts, Steam offers returns as long as select conditions are met. If the game you purchased meets these conditions, you can return it for a refund.
If the game you purchased does not meet these requirements, you are probably out of luck º, but you can still contact Steam Customer Support directly to see if they can help you with the refund.
Here’s what Steam says on the refund policy page :
“You can request a refund for almost any purchase on Steam, for any reason. Your PC may not meet the hardware requirements; maybe you accidentally bought a game; Maybe you played the track for an hour and you just didn’t like it.
“It does not matter. Valve will issue a refund upon request via help.steampowered.com for any reason if the request is made within the required return period and, in the case of games if the title has plays for less than two hours. Please find more details below, but even if you don’t follow the refund rules we have outlined, you can still request a refund and we’ll look into it.
“You will receive a full refund on your purchase within a week of approval. You will refund in the form of Steam Wallet credit or the same payment method you used to purchase. If for any reason Steam is unable to issue a refund using your original payment method, the full amount will credit to your Steam wallet. “
The main limitation on refunds:
→ The game must have purchases within the last two weeks
→ AND you must have played the game for less than 2 hours in total
→The above also applies to DLC content (this must-have purchase within the last two weeks and you must have played the game for less than 2 hours since purchasing the DLC)
→In-game purchases are refundable only 48 hours after purchase and as long as the in-game purchase does not use, modified, or transferred.
